TEMPERATURE EXTREMES
Our products far exceed the norm of 160°C temperature differences as laid down in the European standard.
The heat retaining properties of Continental Vitrified Hotelware are excellent due to the very high firing temperatures in the production process.
HYGIENE
Continental’s Vitrified Hotelware is impermeable to water.
Our products conform to the British Standard BS 4034. This standard controls the amount of water absorption allowed in a glazed piece of ceramicware and guarantees that the product is highly resistant to crazing.
Glazing over the base of flatware ensures that the absorption of water or other materials will not occur.
DISHWASHER RESISTANCE
Continental’s Vitrified Hotelware is highly dishwasher resistant under normal dishwashing procedures.
It is, however, important that machine manufacturers’ recommendations in respect of correct operating procedures, water temperatures and quality detergents and dosages are stricly adherred to.
EDGE CHIP RESISTANCE
Vitrified Hotelware is produced from a specially formulated body containing Alumina that adds strength and durability to the product.
In addition, article rims are reinforced to guard against chipping, and spouts and handles are specifically designed to minimize breakage.

GLAZE DURABILITY
Continental uses a specially formulated glaze that is geared to withstand the rigours of the catering environment and has the ability to resist staining, abrasion and detergents in normal usage.
STACKABILITY
Our products are designed to stack which aids storage and facilitates space saving.
The glazed foot of the flatware prevents scratching from taking place.
MICROWAVE SAFE
Continental’s Vitrified Hotelware products are microwave oven safe, provided that articles do not have precious metal decorations (i.e. gold or platinum).
Products can safely be taken from freezer to microwave.
